AOMS Library

Library Hours for Students:  7:30 a.m. -- 3:00 p.m. (except some Thursdays, minimum day, library may close at 1:00 pm due to meetings).

Students:  Unless there is a scheduled class in the library, the library is open during all brunches and lunches.  Students sign in to use the library during their lunch break, and need to have a purpose to be here during lunch, e.g., reading, do homework, use computer, printer, checkout materials, etc.  Please watch for closed signs on the door as there may be a class in the library during your break.

If students want to check when their books are due, login to your own Destiny account by clicking on the Login button from your school homepage.  Enter your 5 digit permanent ID number as your username and password.  You should see your name at the top right.  Click on the "My Info" tab.  Now, you will see all library books and textbooks checked out to you with their due dates, and any fines and holds too.  Once logged in, you may also use Destiny's "One Search" feature to search other databases and our catalog and create your own "Resource Lists".  If you login into Destiny using a school computer, remember to log out when you finish.  If you have questions or need help, please ask Mrs. Lavery in the library.

Online Reference Databases at AOMS

As a reminder, AOMS currently subscribes to two online reference databases.   Students may use these for any project or homework requiring research.  Both are available from school or home.  Go to Gale SRIC Access Info or World Book Online Access Info for login info.  Save the attachments for access info.  Bookmark the links below as favorites on your computers. These databases are:

California Young Reader Medal (CYRM) Program

AOM Library is offering the California Young Reader Medal (CYRM) program or Challenge to all students.  We are promoting the program via the English Language Arts classes.  Important:  If you go to the above link to search for the titles, make sure you search for the 2017-18 nominees.  The 2018-19 nominees are posted in February for the next school year.

Students:  If you wish to participate, you need to read the three (3) books in one of the categories suitable for your grade level.  As you finish reading each of the three books in your chosen category or categories, you need to complete a quiz.  See Mrs. Lavery in the library to take each quiz.   All quizzes must be completed by Friday, March 23, 2018.

All students who successfully complete the reading and quizzes will be rewarded by a dessert party during lunch on Wednesday, March 28, when they will vote on their favorite book in their category.  AOM's voting results are then sent to the state level committee.  The statewide awards are announced in May.  This is a great program where only students vote on the winning books.

There are a limited number of copies in the library.  If you participate, please read the books promptly so that they become available for others.  If you have any questions, please contact me via School Loop email.
